Buddy’s first foray into construction was performing gutter cleanouts as a second income. Later he worked for a roofing contractor and ran a landscaping business.
One of his most alarming experiences was roofing repair in winter on a 4-story Norman revival home, wedged into a wooded lot overlooking a steep ravine. Once repairs were done, he couldn’t get footing on the icy roof and stayed wedged between dormer and gutter, wondering how he would get up the roof, over the ridge and down the other side to the ladder. Fortunately for us—and him—he did, and went on to more earthly pursuits.
Buddy is a lifelong addict of National Geographic. He has excellent computer skills and is frequently asked to “just figure things out.” He lives in the University District with his friend, Randy, a multi-toed black cat (with way too much attitude) named Darkness, trees “filled with crows” and assorted wildlife.
He spends his free time building stone walls and rehabilitating old houses.
