Background

Melody joined us in February 2008 as Receptionist (AKA “Manager of First Impressions”). Her duties not only included greeting customers, directing calls and filing, but also assisting with accounting. She was quickly “recruited” on special projects, where her multi-tasking skills became invaluable.

Today, Melody is still our Manager of First Impressions. She also serves as insurance coordinator, assists with our weekly Payroll processing (which we now do in-house), Accounts Payable & Receivable. Melody also helps Sales & Estimating update our estimating database and assists with Human Resources.

Before coming to MCR Services, she worked for a Home Handyman service, performing reception and general office duties. To date, she has handled the following roles:

• Accounting Assistant
• Bookkeeper
• Human Resources Assistant
• Receptionist

Melody was pursuing a degree as an Administrative Assistant, but her “ramped up” accounting duties here at MCR Services caused her to refocus on getting her Bookkeeping Certification. During the selection process to recruit our Controller, Melody operated the accounting system in collaboration with our professional partners. She currently assists our Controller while continuing her support and leadership roles in other areas.

Since she started at MCR Services, one of her favorite pastimes is to drive around with friends and family members and “point out” all the projects we’ve worked on. She also finds herself studying buildings and mentally “deconstructing” them to figure out how they were built.

Her “Twilight Zone” moments at work range being pressed into service as a marketing “guinea pig” (helping select photos, colors and layouts) to routinely receiving mail for the AutoZone across the street.

In what little free time she has, Melody enjoys mystery and romance novels, because, as she rightly maintains, “It’s great to solve problems and you just can’t have enough happy endings.”  

Melody and her husband, Mike, live in Canal Winchester, with (his) cat, Ruby (“Ruby Tuesday”) and way too much furniture (they’re saving for a house to put it in).
