COVA (Center of Vocational Alternatives) started in 1982 as a janitorial service program employing people with severe mental health disabilities – a unique, innovative program unlike any others available at the time. Today, COVA is a national leader advocating for ever-improving employment opportunities for people with mental illness and other disabilities.

As such, the mayor scheduled a public appearance in conjunction with news stations, affirming the value of COVA services with their dynamic blend of career development and education services.
