Opus started as a General Contractor in 1953 in Minnesota. Since then, they have grown into a full-service development and property management firm with 5 regional centers, including offices in Central Ohio.
In 2005, The Thorson Company purchased this parcel of land to construct speculative business condos. We were considered for the overall development, but OPUS was already on site erecting a neighboring warehouse. We were instead retained as a major subcontractor for erection of the building structure.
Challenges
The “Layer-Cake” Approach
Because MCR Services already had an established relationship with the Thorson Company from other projects and Rod Thorson wanted us “in the mix,” we were asked to stay involved with the project. As a result, we provided the following subcontract construction services for OPUS Corporation on Centerpointe:
Custom-Engineered Steel Bldg
Metal Roofing System
Features
MCR Collaborates with National Developer to Assist our Mutual Client
Finished shell structure can be divided into as many as 12 complete tenant spaces
27 overhead doors

Serving Our Clients at Different Levels
After OPUS completed the site work and foundations, we mobilized and had the building under roof in less than 30 days.
Although we wanted to develop the entire project for Thorson, in this case it made more sense to work directly with OPUS and continue to offer valuable service.
One of the basic principles that’s guided MCR Services since our inception is “going the extra mile” and performing the due diligence to figure out what con-struction services our clients really need.
