Riverside Pulmonary Associates is a group of specialists associated with Riverside Hospital. Established in 1986, they focus on diseases and disorders of the lungs.
In 2007, Ohio Health asked MCR to submit a competitive bid for the new first floor North Medical Building offices, which consisted of gutting a larger, private-practice office and building two suites—one for Pulmonary Associates and the second for Riverside Homereach.
In April 2007, we were awarded the work.
Challenges
Fast-Tracked Construction
Ohio Health was “under the gun” and we needed to delivery the new offices by August 2007. There were other restrictions on the work which posed challenges for our team members:
Restricted working hours, since a “Sleep Center” was directly above the space
Accelerated Schedule
Strictly enforced infectious disease policies and special safety and health issues
We had to minimize disruptions to this busy area of the hospital
Features
Completely New Medical Offices, Exam Rooms and HomeReach Retail Center
3,427 square foot Medical Tenant Improvement
Extensive communications wiring and new fire alarm system
All new finishes—walls, floors, ceilings
New electric and heating, ventilation and air conditioning
The Ohio Health project “overseer” was a registered architect and took a personal interest in making sure that the finish details were “just perfect”
Results
An Upscale, Inviting & “Relaxing” Space
Ohio Health is a healthcare pioneer. They were among the first to make Emergency Services and Patient Care user-friendly to patients, their families, staff & visiting specialists—with private exam rooms and “Living Room” details. They have mandated the same look and feel for all subsequent hospital projects.
Our commitment to quality, safety and delivery makes a strong team. Because of these factors, we were able to turn over the new offices for occupancy prior to deadline—and under budget.
