Columbus Center for Human Services (CCHS) was founded in 1983 and is certified by the Ohio Department of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities. They support individuals with mental retardation and developmental disabilities to prioritize their health and safety, encourage their personal goals and promote a positive role in the community.
CCHS planned to convert unused storage space into much needed office, activity and meeting space at their Park West Court Apartment complex. The CCHS staff was working with Dwain Lee Architects, who contacted us to look at the work.
Challenges
From Storage Space into: Everything
After three months of reviews and negotiations, we were awarded this project.
We have a track record with similar community-oriented and non-profit organizations.
We worked closely with CCHS’s bank and earned their confidence thereby eliminating the bonding requirements; the resulting cost reduction allowed CCHS to invest in other amenities.
We worked an accelerated schedule to complete the project on time.

A Very Useful Transformation
The old “warehouse” storage area was completed transformed during this five month project. The Columbus Center for Human Services, at the Park West Court Apartment complex, now has almost 20,000 square feet of useful space. Here they can continue their mission of providing the best possible supported living services and continue to promote community inclusion – establishing strong ties to the community while maximizing personal interests and achieving skill development.
